This is such a disaster. They were not prepared for this, and have no way to solve this problem right now. They are keeping everyone in the dark about the facts, but only because they cannot even go and see what is happening. Everything that gets too close dies, including robots.

To give an example of how bad this is, 500 sieverts actually doesn’t show up on the chart. It tops out at 10 sieverts per hour. Fukushima is 500+/hr.

Why don’t they wrap themselves in mylar film? That’s how the Apollo astronauts got through the Van Allen radiation belt.

[–] Gamio 3 points (+3|-0) 3 hours ago

The Van Allen belt isn’t universally dangerous, you can predict how dangerous it will be based on solar activity. Also slightly unrelated subject but look up cosmic ray visual phenomenon, and remember this is is what it does to space suitsJPG.

Idk, i’ll ask them, they probably haven’t thought of this trick!

cant we just seal that shit off , i mean we can build islands and skyscrapers and we built a dome for Chernobyl , imsure we could find a few good people and resources , why arent we walling in the toxic water?

[–] Drkadrka 1 points (+1|-0) 3 hours ago

No. We would have to build a seawall to isolate all water movement all the way to the ocean floor, and it would have to be pretty far out to not kill whatever we use to build it, and then they would need to isolate the water table, then drain all the water to a containment tank which would have to be bigger than most lakes, run it through a bioremediation system to extract the radiation from the water, and then test the water to make sure it is clean enough to reintroduce. You are talking over a trillion dollars to do it all and it would take a decade at least, assuming there are no further complications.

It’s flowing underground. They can’t dam it at the exit because it would go everywhere. They need to stop the water from getting to it in the first place. And they can’t do that because they can’t get close enough to scout it out clearly enough.

Anyone still eating seafood? I gave that up years ago.

I miss Tuna and Gulf Shrimp.

The radiation level is how you get Godzilla II and of course it will eat Tokyo again .

Send the puss head dildo waving sjw racist brainwashed self hating cunts there to protest it up close.

24 hours after the event back in 2011 was the Unimaginable level, there is no way of shutting this thing off. http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/69415000/gif/_69415268_fukushima_groundwater_v2.gifGIF Hey there is a sale at Law*Mart..

This post made me interested in the subject so I went down the rabbit hole to investigate:

Tepco recently measured 530 Sieverts in Fukushima’s third reactor. For context, the LD50 of radiation is between 3 and 3.5 Sieverts…..5 Sieverts would kill anyone within two weeks so 530 is definitely insane, but its not unexpectedly high. Radiation from Reactor 3 had never been measured, partly because robots kept failing due to the radiation, but spent Corium (reactor type in Fukushima) can produce up to 10,000 Sieverts/hour so no one familiar with nuclear radiation is surprised.

[–] foltaisaprovenshill -1 points (+0|-1) 3 hours ago

The MSM, meanwhile, compares the radiation coming off Fukushima to that of eating a banana, which is fucking retarded.

[–] foltaisaprovenshill 0 points (+0|-0) 47 minutes ago

Holy shit, there are actually people who think that standing in the middle of Fukushima is the same as eating a banana. SMH

Guess with Trump declaring he wants to lower the US military presence around Japan, the Japanese are trying to raise Godzilla to keep the Chinese at bay /s

But seriously, this is disturbing, especially given that the media has done no or little reporting on the reactor in the last few years and everyone thought the damnable thing had gone kind of “dormant”.

[–] HeavyBrain 1 points (+2|-1) 4 hours ago

STALKER 2 when?

But seriously wtf they need to think of something soon, I know things are not the same but sure they can drive some insperation from Chernobyl.
